The scars are theirs. The silence is ours.

Let us break the silence together.

In post-war Tigray, Ethiopia, where women's bodies became battlegrounds in a largely unseen conflict, Not Ours To Carry follows three women as they break the enforced silence around conflict-related sexual violence and carry their fight for justice from their communities to the world stage.

Voices

"The bravery of the women in this film, to open up the wounds of their experiences and share their heartbreaking stories, despite the incredible personal risk, reveals how important and urgent it is for humanity to bear witness to these atrocities."

Leslie Gilbert-Lurie
International Board Member, Human Rights Watch

"Not Ours to Carry is a powerful and deeply important film. Veronica Blecker gives voice to women whose suffering has too often been ignored and reveals the devastating consequences of a system that permits sexual violence to persist unchecked. This is not just a story about one country. It is a reminder of our shared responsibility to bear witness, speak out, and demand better."
